PCMCIA memory card help

Trying to access a PCMCIA memory card that comes up in device manager as "Unity Digital 32mb Flash Card Seris II" but cant find any drivers to let it work.

Everything I can find seems to point to the M-Systems DiskOnChip2000 as being the best way to go, but it was made obsolete before windows 7, and I cant find a copy of the drivers that I can make work......

Any ideas/hints/tips/suggestions?

1) Ask the seller an actual picture of the item for sale if it is not listed as actual item. Ask more pictures if you are still not satisfied. Also ask the seller what Mark or model the item listed for sale. There are significant differences between model of a toughbook(MK1, MK2, MK3, MK4 & etc.). The higher the Mark the higher the speed, graphics and chipset. Other seller don't want to list this mark cause this is also one way to fool novice buyer.

intermittent usb port cf-30 mkiii

Hello all,

I've got a somewhat tempermental usb port (the one on the side, next to the power adapter socket) on my cf30 mkiii. I'll have the usb stick in, but if I look crosseyed at it, it loses connection. Any advice? Of course I've got two more ports in the back, but they're less convenient. Thanks in advance for your help.

I was unable to find anything definitive on this, so I thought a how-to was in order.

Important information: CF30 Mk3 (WWAN ready pocket), Windows 7 Pro 32 bit, and Gobi2000

Recently I spent several weeks in the US on vacation, and while I was there I sourced and upgraded a CF30 with the intention of taking it home with me.

fz-a1b toughpad - no volume control + no proper standby mode

We know the fz-a1's have no external volume controls - I dunno if the newer Android ones do. Has anyone worked a decent app that can be used for volume control when other apps are running? It needs to be supported in the old 4.0.3 version of Android.

As for the lack of a proper standby mode, I'm finding that in my workbag were I carry the toughpad the power button is getting pushed in enough by other stuff in the back to cause the toughpad to turn on, and when I get it out to use it the...

CF30 HDD heater - Is it really needed?

How worthwhile is the HDD heater?

Where I live is inland tropical, and doesnt really get that cold, and add a SSD to the mix and I am wondering if its worth my time to unplug the heater element in the caddy to maybe get a little more life out of the battery.

CF-30 - Win10 Driver Issues

Hey there everyone!

Recently a coworker and myself picked up a couple really awesome Toughbooks. Well, long story short, unlike mine, his turned out to be a CF-30 MK1. (I have no idea which exact model, as the sticker specifying such is missing from the bottom of the system, and it was refurbished). I ended up upgrading mine to Windows 10 x64, which works absolutely wonderfully on my CF-30 MK3. I didn't have to update any drivers and it was completely ready to go with no issues whatsoever....

I never would have imagined this being such a pain in the arse. I am looking for a good software/mapping program to use on my 54 with the U-Blox GPS engine. I have tried the Co-Pilot and am just not thrilled with it. I ordered the Delorme and it won't even work with U-Blox, at least according to there support dept. I loved my Garmin Mobile PC software as it was very simple, easy and always worked with my 30's. They are not supporting it any longer so the mapping is getting outdated.

I purchased a keyboard (CF-WKB313VM) that was intended for use in the CF-31 as a replacement for my rubberized (condom-coated) keyboard (N860-1435-T201/20).

While the supported versions list does not show the CF-30 it will work with a minor modification to the keypad. Two of the alignment tabs along the space-bar edge of the keypad exist on the new(er) keypad yet there are not slots in the chassis for those tabs. I've been told that supposedly no 4G WWAN cards are available for CF30's

Is there any particular reason?

Is it a software/driver issue with CF30's?

Is it that the WWAN card needs to be panasonic approved?

HI Guys,

Long time since my last post. I have now a CF-31GG2EA1M Laptop for my wife.
I have a Factory CF-31 Mk1 restore disk with W7 on it that I just used on my CF-31A.
I did have a working W7 copy working on her computer but it was from a cf-29n then a CF-74G, Cf-30F and last a CF-30k. As you can see it needed a clean wipe and start over. When I ran the CF-31 Mk1 restore disk I was flashes a message of it was not for this Computer. I made a copy using my CF-31A and then put the disk in...

Hi ,the last few days I've been reading the posts as a guest in order to find a solution for my new (used) cf19 mk3.
I got it a week ago and so far everything works with win7 Proff, except the gobi (Qualcomm) 1000 card.
The bios wwan is enabled and in the hardware management is missing the drivers. I tried so far drivers from other companies and the software available in the US site but with no result since I am located in Europe.

One of the things that has really improved the Toughbook performance for me was to use a different wireless antenna for the 802.11 a/b/g/n adapter. The two top edge antennas under the black plastic trim of the lid are "OK" for sitting in a hotel room but not too good for grabbing a connection from the parking lot of the nearest McDonalds or Starbucks. i believe i have figured out a way to increase the somewhat slow/dated 1.8GHz processor speed in my '30 .
the interconnections are rather simple and require only a few pre 1931 "bobby-pins" or strips of genuine tin-foil gum wrappers .
in theory , it should increase the processor speed to the "infrared" region and with the possibilities of a momentary "turbo boost" function of just under UV .

Has anyone ever converted a single pass-thru Panasonic WEB301 dock to a dual pass-thru? Customer is telling us there is a blank spot for another connector on the bottom of the dock. Customer has new dual pass-thru TB and existing docks. Or is their only option to remove the pass-thru on the dock completely and just utilize the built-in antenna?

or ... how to make a silicon to carbon converter ... nuclear transmutation physics at its finest .

so , shawn sent me a package with some *stuff* in it . there are a couple of '52 LED screens and a driver board in the mix .
after a short confab with shawn , i set into figuring out how to hook up that driver/screen combo into my '52 MK1 .
for those unfamiliar with the '52 series , the MK1 uses CCFL while the MK2 and MK3 use LED backlighting .
let me assure you , the original CCFL brightness...

CF31 screen brightness F1 and WIN10 resets

Has anyone seen this behavior? I have 2 CF-31s just updated to WIN10 from a fresh install of WIN7 and the F1 and F2 keys work to increase or decrease the screen brightness but a second later it resets back to what is was before making the manual change. Anyone know a way of allowing manual control with the Hotkeys?

Amount of charge cycles on battery

Generally speaking, is the number of charge cycles on a Toughbook battery any indication of battery health?
Sure there are other factors of battery usage to affect it's health, but does fewer chargings mean a better battery?
