Okay.... Here it is! I was debating starting this thread the other day but now that someone has specifically asked for it.... I decided to go ahead and start one.

This thread is for general discussion and light problems/comments/questions. Anything "heavy-duty" should probably have its own thread started to make the search function a little easier.

So.... I'll start it off! My CF-30 (which I love!) is a model CF-30CCS92BM. It is pretty much where I want it... A 1.66Ghz duo-core processor...

USB // PCMCIA booting

I have been working on a CF19 with some USB issues. Issues such as, they don't work.

In my experimenting, I tried a PCMCIA to USB adapter. I will only plug a USB stick into these as they do not supply enough current for anything else.

I discovered that the CF19 WILL boot from a USB stick plugged into a PCMCIA device. I even installed Windows 7 onto the HDD using the USB in the PCMCIA.

I also tried a mini PCIE to USB adapter in the WWAN slot. That worked as well, but I did not try to boot...

CF-51 CPU upgrading

The processors in the CF-51s are definitely upgradeable. I recently upgraded one of my CF-51 MK3s to a T7500 processor. I will give more details later. I am in the process of going back home and moving from one state to another.

CF-C2 not recognizing Gobi 5000

Just installed a EM7355 made for Panasonic in my CF-C2 mk2 running win 10 and I don't see it listed in device manager or the bios. I installed aircard watcher and skylight but they don't see the card either. Can someone point me in the right direction?

It's time for my yearly dissertation (RANT) on my idea of forum etiquette.

Several times in the recent past, a new member comes on and asks / begs for our help. Then they can't be bothered to answer our following questions fully..
Then next step seems to involve telling us why we are wrong and we don't know what we are talking about....Nor do we need any more information....

Newbies here is a free clue..If you knew how to fix the Toughbook, you would not need to ask for our help......

CF-31 no wifi after new SSD

Hi guys,

I just bought a (new to me) cf31 mk1. CF-31AEA7J2M and installed a 240GB SSD, Win7 64, and the toughbook driver suite for a CF31 mk1 from the Panasonic toughbook website. I checked for a wifi icon in the tray and get nothing. I checked the bios and all the wireless options show enabled. The "on/off" switch by the SD card slot, under the cover marked "wireless" and "MP" and "SDHC" is switched on. I even went back to the Toughbook website and searched for CF31 mk1 wireless...

Ok... I just got the T-Mobile Pre-Paid "Free Data for Life" plan. Basically, you get 200MB of data for free, and you can pre-pay for more, if you need it, buy by the day, week or month, at any time. Check with T-Mo for rates. Yes, I know that T-Mo has a smaller footprint, but it still bigger then the one I have have now, which is strictly limited to Wi-Fi!

But if you need/use less then 200 MB, again, that is free! Now, I know that is pretty much...

build continued :
i strongly suggest replacing the protective cover on the front of the touch screen to prevent damage during the next few steps .

this is where the four conductor cable is cut to length.
shown is the variation of permanently attaching the USB cable .
leaving the white connector on will allow easier removal for servicing .
note : if you have a problem with "reversed vertical cursor response" , flip the four conductor connector .

Anyone updated Toughbook SX2 to Windows 10 successfully?

Panasonic abandoned support for the SX2 even while it is still being sold at full retail. That means there are no drivers for Windows 10 posted from Panasonic. But Panasonic dealers offer the SX2. Some even show the "free Windows 10" logo.

I'm wondering if anyone has actually upgraded their Windows 7 SX2 to Windows 10, and what you could say about the process.

here is the start of the react os thread ...

and right out of the bag ...
i loaded react on an asus A53E laptop i had kicking around just to see what i might expect from a '31 .
the os installed ok ... i turned of that UFEI (?) in the bios and had no problems loading the os .
it popped up with "i wanna load some drivers" ... sooo , i went to the asus site and got the drivers ...
put them on a flash drive and the comp won"'t "see" the usb ports !
i am going to try to turn on the UFEI in the...

CF-74 screen protector film removal

Hi, guys!

I noticed that my CF-74 MK4 has screen protector film on LCD.
It looks like it came that way from the factory.

Since I plan to never use pen input, I'm thinking about removing it, and not
reapplying it with a new one.
Besides, I never liked Touch Screen LCDs because they are grainy and
simply not as good as the regular LCDs.

If I remove the film, would it improve LCD quality somewhat? I'm not expecting
a miracle here but maybe a bit of brightness and/or viewing angle...

Unfortunately, I may have damaged the firmware of the MC8355 WWAN module in my FZ-G1. (I quickly setup a temporary installation of Win 7 x64 on a second partition to test something for another thread. In the process, I might have installed a mismatching WWAN driver. If I had known that this driver can modify the firmware during installation, I had been more careful...)

Anyway, my MC8355 is now...

FZ-G1 eraser support for stylus/pen

Hi, I have a FZ-G1 (mk1) and a question about its pen/digitizer.

I have two other Wacom pens (one from an older Tablet PC and one directly from Wacom). Both these other pens work well in that they move the pointer and their side switch/right click works. However, these pens also got an eraser on their top and it does not work (not even the pointer shows / is moved by it).
I know that the FZ-G1 default pen does not have an eraser, but the Wacom digitizer should be able to "see" it,...

Hi!

It's installed and getting power (it gets hot to the touch when system is powered up) but it doesn't actually show up.

Is it possible to make this a bootable drive? Or is this something that can't be done? I heard you can't see it in the BIOS until windows is installed and the drivers are loaded. This seems crazy to me, what's the point of an ultra-fast nonremovable drive if you can't actually boot your OS off it?

It's a cf-54ax001cm I got off ebay brand new for $999 with no OS or...

just joined the world of toughbooks and got myself a cf-30ktpazpe with bios version v3.00L16 m22
but i have ran into a issue that i have read all about and tried some of the solutions from this forum

the problem i have is no wi-fi or bluetooth i have been under the keyboard and can confirm i have the bluetooth module and wifi card intel 5100..however there is no bluetooth or wlan in the bios to enable or disable but there is for the wireless switch which is enabled...going of posts in here...

new to the forum
