Forum seems a bit - quiet?

Avast quote Reuters article from 2 days ago saying that 273 million email accounts have been hacked. My Gmail spam filter caught this today.

No google results for StreamSmooth, nothing on the forum I can find.

Changing passwords obviously.

CF-19 mk2 charger / battery issues

My 2nd hand CF-19 mk2 is charging extremely slow - around 6-7 hours for a completely discharged battery. The charger is "CF-AA1633A M2" and capable to spupply 3.75A @ 16V. I connected it to a power meter and shows a power consumption of 19W. If you take efficiency into account then we end up with a charging current only around 1A.
The Battery is not brand new either and only gives me a runtime of 90 minutes.
Is it likely to be the battery that is worn out? Or charger? Pr my beloved CF-19...

FZ-G1 eraser support for stylus/pen

Hi, I have a FZ-G1 (mk1) and a question about its pen/digitizer.

I have two other Wacom pens (one from an older Tablet PC and one directly from Wacom). Both these other pens work well in that they move the pointer and their side switch/right click works. However, these pens also got an eraser on their top and it does not work (not even the pointer shows / is moved by it).
I know that the FZ-G1 default pen does not have an eraser, but the Wacom digitizer should be able to "see" it,...

My first Toughbook was a CF-Y2. My second was a CF-Y7. These were fantastic 14.1 inch machines, great for travel, beautiful to work on. Then there were the F8 and F9 (in the US, anyway).

Now there is the CF-LX3. In Singapore, it looks like you can get it with an 88key US keyboard. (In Europe, an 89key UK, as well as German, French, etc. are available.)

You guys love Toughbooks as much as I do. Has anyone tried one? Bought one? Any idea how I can get one shipped here with a US...

I really need to start purging my CF-30 units and all the awesome stuff that i have for them. I am really enjoying my CF-54 way too much. I'm just not sure of the best avenue to do this. I'm not a huge fan of putting an Ebay ad together....

I have 2 30's. A MK2 and MK3. Absolutely 100% perfect condition. I like to take care of my ****zzz! LOL
A couple of desktop replicators, Gamber/Johnson MagDock, Caddies, Drives, etc etc etc.

Any advice would be awesome. It would be so flipping awesome...

Hello I have a CF-C2CCEZXCM US MODEL inside already fitted sim slot, antenna ,I try to fit a gobi3000 EM7305 borrowed from a CF-AX3 but it not recognize , is missing the option in bios "enable wwan"
can someone point me to some solution to patch bios to enable it or give way to find password ,I have dumped bios image with AMI tool and also reading the KH25L12873FM2 flash with programmer but not found any info about it.

I was unable to find anything definitive on this, so I thought a how-to was in order.

Important information: CF30 Mk3 (WWAN ready pocket), Windows 7 Pro 32 bit, and Gobi2000

Recently I spent several weeks in the US on vacation, and while I was there I sourced and upgraded a CF30 with the intention of taking it home with me.

With no definitive answer on what would work re: onboard mobile internet, I browsed the forums and drew the conclusion that a Gobi2000 card was my best bet, with it...

CF30 not booting from optical drive

Hi Guys
I swapped out the standard optical drive in my CF30 for a Sony Optiarc AD5540, and discovered last night when I went to upgrade my HDD to a SSD that my CF30 simply does not recognize the new optical drive as a drive it can boot from, so I had to pull the caddy apart and refit the original optical drive

is there any way to get around this?

Unfortunately, I may have damaged the firmware of the MC8355 WWAN module in my FZ-G1. (I quickly setup a temporary installation of Win 7 x64 on a second partition to test something for another thread. In the process, I might have installed a mismatching WWAN driver. If I had known that this driver can modify the firmware during installation, I had been more careful...)

Hi!

It's installed and getting power (it gets hot to the touch when system is powered up) but it doesn't actually show up.

Is it possible to make this a bootable drive? Or is this something that can't be done? I heard you can't see it in the BIOS until windows is installed and the drivers are loaded. This seems crazy to me, what's the point of an ultra-fast nonremovable drive if you can't actually boot your OS off it?

It's a cf-54ax001cm I got off ebay brand new for $999 with no OS or...

When searched for CF-30 BIOS and Embedded Controller files, the Panasonic Download Support site (both Panasonic.com and also pc-dl.Panasonic.co.jp/dl) lists ONLY those for the C/D Mk1 models (and even then only for the XP Downgrade versions): specifically offering only BIOS V1.00L20 and EC V1.00L17.
However, the first screen of the actual BIOS of a MK3 (CF-30Kxxxxx2M with a VISTA COA) lists it's BIOS as V3.00L20 and EC as V3.00L16. Likewise, a CF-30Kxxxxx2B with a Win7 COA lists it's...

CF30 HDD heater - Is it really needed?

How worthwhile is the HDD heater?

Where I live is inland tropical, and doesnt really get that cold, and add a SSD to the mix and I am wondering if its worth my time to unplug the heater element in the caddy to maybe get a little more life out of the battery.

When I bought my dock, unfortunately it was missing its key.

I visited several local locksmiths near where I was staying in San Francisco, and the closest any of them got was having a look at their lock listings, trying to identify a code, and no joy......

On returning to Australia, I tried my luck at the local locksmiths (small town, ~13,000 people), the lady at the counter got me to leave the lock and my number and she'd see if they could identify the key and cut one when the locksmiths...

While not my first Toughbook this is definitely the newest one I have owned. I currently own a cf-29 and cf-30 that both have been and still are great rugged laptops. I would have stayed with the 30 but the usb port is getting to where it does not connect all the time. I use them to do diagnostic work on boat motors so I must have a usb port that works without question every time. So I have been watching ebay for a good buy on a 31 figuring 4 usb ports should last me a very long time and...

New to me CF-31 mk2 upgrade advice

In a similar vein to the incredibly-useful CF-29 FAQ, now we shall have one for the CF-51. I'm hoping to distill and simplify the myriad small details regarding this model.

Also, the CF-51 seems to enjoy substantial availability on eBay - much more so than the CF-73.

Title says it all. I'm hesitant as W7 runs so well on my MK2 (not so well on the MK1 though). But W10 is the future for sure.
