Good evening group. Complete Ludite Fred here. I have decided that I need a new ( to me ) laptop that I can carry on my motorcycle. I have been following a Canadian seller on eBay and I am completely confused.He seems to have a gazillon of them. I need/want GPS, 250 gb hard drive , sort of water proof, DVD drive and whatever else that I might need. I bid on one that I thought would fit the bill but missed it by $5. What should I have to pay for a good serviceable unit with a couple hrs...

Hello guys I currently have a cf-30 mk2 it has served me well. But I'm thinking of getting something newer what would you guys recommend? Little background I and a filed tech I am often exposed to dirt,mud,rain, dust etc id like something rugged that can hold up to the elements as my cf-30 has. I run all sorts of dignostics software and I have all manuals on my PC so I need something snappy with maybe a touch screen. I was thinking of getting a cf-54 but unfortunately there is lack of funds...

Help me decide what to get next.

I was going to post this about 3 hours ago, but I got caught up reading a few other posts.

I have a CF-31 I am going to outfit with one of the new aftermarket UBLOX GPS kits. I want this unit to be able to track me in areas that may not have a good wireless signal. Thus, I need something like MS Streets & Trips for software. I need software that is downloadable to the laptop and does not require an internet connection like google maps does.

Well I know what you all are thinking....me installing W7 64bit. Well I was having a lot of problems with W7 32bit. Internet explorer was crashing, freezing up. I was getting high memory use warning all the time and it was over heating to the point that I could not sit it on my lap. I installed W7 32bit again with all the updates and the next day it was the same again. So I said why not try W7 64bit. so I upgraded the memory and ran the 64bit recovery disk. It's been running a full day now...

I've been perusing the interwebs for a while now trying to find answers to my questions, but haven't had much luck. I just got a new-to-me CF-29 without GPS. I have an external GPS antenna for my vehicle. I have found bits and pieces of useful information here and there, but I'm so new to this that I don't know how/where to use it.

SO. Can y'all please gently enlighten me on how the GPS in these functions, and specifically, what I need and how to install my antenna. All I know is that GPS...

I have a CF-31SELAX1M that I am trying to get a Gobi 2000 card working in. I have installed the card and it does not show up in device manager. Here is what I have tried so far:

1. I have enabled the WWAN option in the bios wireless settings and also gotten into the optional kit area and changed the WWAN card from FF to 4. I read here and on the web that all this needs done. I got the impression it would not even show in the bios if the card...

So I haves this new (to me) CF-31 and I am getting ready to upgrade the RAM from 8GB to something more, I am thinking 16GB. I plan to dual boot again, and I was planning using Ubuntu 14.04 x64. But some of the other distros looks tempting so perhaps...

So which version of Windows do I use? Win 7, Win 8.1 or Win 10? I want speed, but I know what older versions of M$ Office will not run on Win 8, or greater, or have they fixed that? Office 365 is damned subscription ware and I will have no...

Hello,

I have a Panasonic Toughbook CF-74 and I plan on replacing my hard drive. I currently am running a 80GB SATA Hard Drive. I am looking for as much space as possible because I have a lot of files. Does anyone know if there is a Hard Drive Capacity Limit or Cap for the Toughbook CF-74?? Any information would be really helpful!

CF 50 wont boot from any device

Hello! I purchased used cf 50 toughbook with no hdd and power adapter. I inserted 6gb hdd from sony vaio with pre-installed german version of windows 98 in panasonic and tried to boot. All i get is windows 98 startup screen and there it stops and stays that way. Nothing happens after that, so i must shutdown via power button.
Then i tried to put windows xp instalation cd and boot from cd drive. First time it showed "setup is inspecting your hardware" and it stops there, second time i tried...

I'm trying to configure my CF-30 to wake up on lan.
I have enabled the function in the BIOS, power management and card properties. I have configured the router to send the packet to the PC (as indicated in some guides, but I don't really understand the meaning since with the PC off it should have no IP but just answering to broadcast communications... anyway... CF-31 with Win7x64 - Which driver works with Hotkeys?

I forget, which Video Driver works with the hotkeys under Win7x64? I thought that I had all of them I used last time loaded Win7x64 a Toughbook, but... :mad:

I have tried a dozen, and still, no luck. I even tired the one that I see referenced on the CF-30 Win7x64 Wiki, but that failed to work as well.

Any idea?

I have looked at several old threads. But wondered what the 2015 answer would be for good GPS software on a CF-30 Mk1 Windows 7 (32 bit)?

Also a second question would be my CF-30 has the factory GPS would you recommend a USB one for better accuracy or it it good enough? Not looking to spend hundreds.

I am considering the purchase of a GOBI card for my CF31A and am wondering, what is the best deal out there at this time?

I do not need it all the time, and when I do my usage would be limited to eMail and some browsing. I might watch a streaming movie every now and then, but this would be a more rare use.

I am with Sprint presently and get a pretty good deal from them, but they do not seem interested in giving me a good deal in wireless. I have looked at their unlimited usage plan, but...
